. After my first few days of driving the car the 50 miles round-trip between home and work, I have noticed coolant disappearing from the radiator. Today, I noticed drops under the radiator, and looks like my plastic drain cock is leaking. Can this be replaced without having to buy a new radiator? Auto parts store search yields universal ones. Hoping someone has replaced theirs and can pint me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. . |

Unscrew it and wrap it with teflon and reinstall it. |

You can give the teflon tape a shot, however I have had mixed results. Most times I find that it is the o-ring on the plug that has failed. Usually by being compressed its entire life. It is the o-ring that provides the seal, not the threads of the plug. You could try to find a replacement o-ring but it's less than $5 for a new drain plug. Link--->Geo drain plug |
