Gen 2 Brake Pad Clips: Any Pics?

The Guide has no pics unfortunately.

I do not understand how the clips are supposed to work that appear to be related to the square boss that protrudes on the backing side of the pads.

It looks like these clips are simply pressed on the square boss and stay put just by the wedging of the fingers on the clip.

On my pads, the boss is so short, these clips will not attach.

The piston side pad/clip (I believe) is assembled and then inserted into the hole in the piston. The pad is now held on the piston. I can see how this works. In fact, if the clip falls of the pad, it will simply be in the piston hole. No big deal.

The other clip is another matter. It appears that it is also pressed on the pad boss but that the two fingers that "trap" the caliper bracket - they hold the pad onto the caliper. As far as assembly, I believe this clip is pressed on the pad, then the pad is inserted into the static glide clips. Then as the caliper is slid into place, the two fingers will be outboard of the caliper and hold the pad to the caliper.

What I don't understand is that if this clip pops off the boss, it will fall off the car. Since this should be not that hard to see happen, I cannot see that this is the proper assembly method.

I was thinking of tripping a small amount off the clip bent fingers so that they would wedge onto the boss at a shallower angle which would be much more difficult to come off.

Pics sure would be nice.

Thanks
Tom
