what controls a higher idle for cold starts? i think i have a bad sensor or someting for years when i would start my car on a cold morning it would idle high for a min or two until it warmed up a little bit then it would idle down on its own. just the last week it has not been doing this i don't know if its a temp sensor somewhere that is bad or what?

The ecm controls the idle speed from input sensors such as the temp sensor. Is your check engine light on? |

It's more likely the Idle Speed Control Motor. |
