.

I had wanted a Metro for a while now, and on 31 July 2012 I answered a craigslist ad and I purchased a very interesting little car. A 1994 Right-Hand Drive Geo Metro. Formally, Los Angeles city vehicle #13787.

She's gone through a pretty good exterior reface, as I persued a Swift-clone look. Here's a look at it's progress:

It was built at the CAMI Auto plant in Ontario on Jan 6th 1994, and spent time as a Los Angles City vehicle. Not sure exactly what it did there, but am trying to find out. It sported a beacon light on the roof, decals on the doors and large black numbers on the roof. I plan on redoing the roof numbers. Almost certain it was part of the Parking Enforcement fleet.

It is labeled as a California emission vehicle. It came here to Arizona through an auction in 2003, and has transferred owners a few times before I came to buy her. Only had 150K miles on the clock.

I plan on researching it's history, and will of course share all of the details and photos here so all can enjoy too. If anyone swings through the Tucson Arizona area, let me know and come check her out.

First, let's take a quick look at her progression exterior-wise, and then get into the thread itself...

If anyone sees anything out of the ordinary, feel free to point it out. I want to try my best to put the car back to original as much as I can. Since it has history as a fleet vehicle, I plan to redo the roof numbers and make up magnetic Parking Enforcement markings.

Someone striped ALOT of stuff out from under the dash. :( And some of the wires look suspect. :-/
And take lots of pictures! ^o)

I know its planed in the future, I just can't wait! :spaz

And where is the engine pic? And the undercarage pics? :type
We need more pics! (in this thread) :P

That plastic piece you asked about in your other thread, you're correct on assuming it's a glovebox liner. Just pops into place.

Under hood pics will be coming, as I try and make sure everything is as is should be. The car came w/ Heat and Air according to the RPO code list, but I assume during the process of the retrofit, the under dash components were removed. Have most components under the hood, but nothing under the dash.

Arizona = Dry heat. It get above 100 a lot, but it doesn't bother me. Only down to about 30 in December. Not bad.

Looks like I have vents on the way soon (Thanks clarkdw). I plan on removing the OEM head unit and moving the Pioneer receiver down into the OEM spot via an aftermarket mount of some sort. Then I will find a heater/AC control panel to install, so that things are like they should be. Wish there were more Metros in local yards here. Pickings are slim. I need to get a better head unit that has an aux input jack so I can use my iPod during my commute.
