OK weird... So far my temp gauge has lived at about halfway once the car warmed up. Today I was driving with the AC on, and noticed it was at the bottom line. I've been watching it as I drive, and sometimes it's in it's normal spot, sometimes it's at the lower line, and sometimes it dances quickly from halfway to either the bottom line or somewhere inbetween bottom and half. As I pulled in to where I am currently at, it was 'stuck' at the lower line. I had plenty of heat from the vents. Turning the key to off and then #2 pos [one before start] the needle moved from way below the lower line to the lower line. Popped the hood, plenty warm there without being over warm... Is there one sensor for both the ECU/PCM and one for the gauge on a '95 1.3 SOHC? Or two? Bad sensor, bad gauge, bad wire, or something else? A painter at the job I just got to suggested maybe the voltage regulator in the alternator "when my jeep volt. reg. went out all the gauges were jumping around" any ideas fellas? [and ladies?] -m |

Low on coolant maybe? If you have air in the system, when the air goes over the coolant temp sensor your gauge will drop down. |

Might also be time to check/clean the grounds on the back of the intake manifold. |

I agree, Everyone says this or that or air, I have never burped a system, and my temp and my cooling system always works great! I bet it is the temperture sensor |

OK the answer! first off, it was 100% full of coolant, and burped. I double-checked. The last thing I did is the key - I was setting the ignition timing at the distributor and had a time with the bolts. there are two coolant sensors, on next to the thermostat housing going to the PCM, and one next to it more under the dizzy going to the dash. I must have jiggered the wiring going to the second one, cuz I pushed on the back of the sensor where the plug is, problem solved! Thanks forum! |
