its not my theory but an expert machanic theory.....
Ok, I'll ask.

Are you the "expert" mechanic??

:popcorn :popcorn
Thanks, you beat me to it. :thumb
I must be pretty lucky with my 2 Metros then because in the combined 390,000 miles that these engine have been ran, not once has either of them had a head gasket failure. I must have gotten a good casting on my exhaust manifolds. :whistle

Let me be the first to say, stop asking "that" mechanic about your engine.
He is obviously not schooled in the inner working of these motors.
Keep asking questions here, and you will get the thruth you seek.
You may even get lucky enough to find someone near you to come and help you out, if you have a problem.

There is nothing wrong with tthe design of the exhaust manifold on these cars.

These motors also do not have a reputation for blowing head gaskets unless the owner has seriously neglected the routine maintenance.

The most common issue this motor is known for is burning exhaust valves. And again, this can be prevented with routine maintenance and using high grade synthetic motor oil past the engine break-in process. I've also never burned a valve in either of my cars. Not even on the engine that had over 220,000 miles on it when it was dissassembled.

Stop believing what your "mechanic" is telling you and start educating yourself on the workings of this tough little car by reading through the forum for a while.

Tell your "mechanic" that he should stick to wrench turning and leave design diagnostics to the REAL design engineers.-----but then, if he is not a friend then tell him he is full
of :shit .....

The same expert who screwed up your original head gasket installation?

That's either complete bullshit or something specific to the Maruti factory, we've never heard of it.
