Just a quick note to help others down the road. It is possible to interchange the clutch cable from newer cars to older generations. I recently used the cable from a 98 Metro on a 94 swift to get by until a new one came in. The newer cable is a bit longer than the earlier one so when it is installed it has a bit of an "S" bend to it and consequently is not quite as smooth operationally as the one of the correct length but it functions fine and kept the car on the road for the 3 days it took for the new part to arrive.
