HI everyone, new member to the forum and the Geo family. I just bought a 93 Metro XFI and went over to the wrecking yard picked up the front and rear sway bars and installed them. However I noticed the braking components are bigger on the 96 Metro and I was wondering if I can install them on my 93 as a direct replacement ? I would like to grab the entire set up,sindle, rotor, caliper, & hose, just disconnect spindle from the strut and lower ball joint and remove the brake hose. Both front and rear. Has anyone done this and will it bolt up without any mods. Thanks.

just jeremy

I just put drums from a 96 onto my 93 yesterday and worked fine. They are identical size and bearings, just have the larger wheel studs for 13" rims. Have not put the 96 spindles/brakes on yet, looks to be not much of an issue. There are several Posts here by different members of thier findings doing this, just search. I think one guy said something about having to change the grease seal on the point where the axles go through because the newer axles are a larger diameter than the old, so he put the 93 seals into the 96 to match the older axle. Some have seemed to have an alignment issue too, not real sure what yet. :hmm

Yes, it's a very nice upgrade, to brakes that actually work. You'll need the 13" wheels from the same car though, your 12" wheels won't fit.
