I was talking to Glenn while getting my Geo ready to run and we discussed various oils.

I have been running Castrol Edge Titanium (gold bottle) in all my vehicles since it came out. Everyone seems to like the oil on most forums and more technical review sites. I have also been using it in air cooled small engines with great luck.

It meets ACEA A1, B1, A5, and B5 specs for the 5W30. The certifications are listed at http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_internet/castrol/castrol_usa/STAGING/local_assets/downloads/p,q/EDGE_Titanium_PDS_april2011.pdf on the second page.

Does this oil look as good as the VW European Spec oil that Glenn was talking about? I am not real familiar with the ACEA specs so I was wondering. I know this has come up as a general discussion but wanted to focus on this one oil.

Also, it looks like Mobil 1 is about the same. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_5W-30.aspx#

I am wondering about this as I can usually get these oils anywhere and the nearest VW dealer is 100 miles away from me. My Geo is filled with the Edge Titanium for now but will look into switching if there are any advantages for cleanliness or lubrication in the VW ACEA oil.
