Dash board button fix; Best way to prevent them from popping off?

Hello all, I searched the forum but couldn't find anything pertaining to my exact question.

When purchasing my 91 geo metro I found that it was missing some dash board buttons for the lights and windshield wipers. Not only that but I found that it was very easy for the buttons to pop off and come off when pushed. I went to a pick and pull today and got more buttons but now I am wondering if there is a good way people have found to secure them.

Can I just use a glue that bonds well with plastic on the buttons or should I go a different route?

using crazy glue works, but be very very light with it, otherwise you will end up gluing your button in the off position.

I use rtv so it will come off if it ever needs to.

Just lightly rest your fingers on the buttons as you press the "off" button, that cushions the shock of them hitting the end of their travel.

Finally got my wifey trained to use her little finger on the off button, both sides. this leaves your other fingers free to rest lightly on each and every other button and takes the pressure off of them when turning them off or changeing position.----has worked for me for a long time and no "pop offs".

BTW, The day after I bought my 'Vert I had it sitting in the garage, top down, windows down, trying stuff. Thankfully I was not going down the road 'cause when I hit the "wipers off" button the wipers "slow" button hit the garage wall and it too forever to find it.

I always use a hot glue gun...secures them as well as makes them removable if you need too...

I had bought some glue today from ACE, but i'm not sure about it if it's overkill or if it will make it hard to remove later: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1390287

I like the idea of the hot glue gun method.

Not sure how they attach, but I use Carpet tape on a lot of stuff.....

Very sticky on both sides and very thin and removable if need be.

I am missing several of mine. Not cool to have one pop off going down the highway and just fly out the window....
