I was off work today and had NOTHING to do...so, i decided to fix an item on jalapeno thats been bugging me. the seat back foam is crumbling and torn on the lower left side of the drivers seat. ![]() it looks awfull, i find dry, crumbly foam all over the place, and its uncomfortable...off to the pull-n-pay. ![]() one seat back...$15.00, and some trim pieces that are in better shape than mine...$10.00 ![]() ![]() since im taking the seat out, i figured id just go ahead and use Stiffchezze's "How To Wash Seat Covers" tutorial, and wash both seat covers. i dissassembled the seats...tossed the seat covers into the washing machine, and used my waiting time to clean up the seat tracks. you can see the rot and damage to the original seat. ![]() after the covers were clean, i reassembled the seats and put them in...man, what a difference...feels alot better on my back too. ![]() ![]() one thing i did different than Stiffchezze... those hog rings came out easy, ![]() but putting them back in was GIANT pain in the ass. so i used safety wire and safety wire pliers...twisted up the wire, pig tailed the ends and tucked them away...quicker. ![]() ![]() ![]() another bonus, my car now REEEKS of tide...

VERY NICE! ![]() Glad I was able to help. Don't worry about the smell. It will "gas off" in a few days and not be near as bad. But oh yea, for the first couple of days it smells like the interior of a detergent bottle. |

stiff, when i bought the car, i cleaned the seats with a small carpet cleaning machine. ( i had not seen your EXCELLENT post on washing seat covers ) the carpet machine did a good job, but washing the whole deal in a washing machine is a way better idea...and its not as hard as one might think...it is time consuming. i spent 5 hours doing it. now i have to figure out how to release the million or so farts and ass oder trapped in the seat foam. Always some laughs in a Smallblock thread! Nice job son, it looks great and I'm sure feels even better! I swapped out my drivers back cover a while back and used plastic wire ties to hold it in. They are still holding great but I might try your wire idea next...
