Thx, I will check that out too, I mean I saw the injector adding little bits of fuel down it when I try to start it. I am thinking it might be bad compression. I dunno, its really upsetting me now because I need this car really bad for college and work. I ran the diagnostic to it and I got a read from it with a bad IAT, Throttle Sensor, MAP Sensor, and oxygen sensor. But, I was in a rush and then I had go into work, so i have to re do the check and scan it. Will get back to you when I get more information. |

That's a lot of codes for sensors. I'd be inclined to think there's some gremlins in the wiring rather than all of those being bad at the same time. |

I know what you mean, I checked the wiring for them and they look fine to me. There not burnt of loose, I have checked the relay wiring out and checked all my grounds and they are fine. I have no clue whats wrong with her I know she is at like 217 K Miles. Going to go get a compression gauge tester so I can test the compression on her. |

You do a compression test yet? How about adding a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder? |

Hey everyone, No not yet the store was sold out of the compression tool and they didit have one to rent. I will have to go tomorrow to get one. I will try the oil too. btw can any of you tell me what the PSI should be for the compression? My brother in law told me around 195PSI just wondering if that's right? I looked in my book and it doesn't tell me what the pressure should be. Cannot thank you all enough for your continuous support and help and any advice you have please post. Thank You. |

156 is the minimum for healthy, 200+ is like a new engine. Mine is sitting at 210 a few thousand miles after a rebuild. |

hey everyone, I was just thinking if the Temperature Sensor on the Throttle Body, is bad could that not make it start? because that sensor is suppose to detect on how cold and hot the engine gets right, so it lets in the fuel as needed? Also I just replaced the starter before this all happened with a new one, you dont think the start could be to blame, I mean its turning it over. Just don't know if it could of gone bad or not. its brand new no more then like less then 3 months old. |

Fritzgeo.. I'm having the same EXACT issue!!! Also have a 94. I've tried everything you've mentioned in your posts. I'm going to be following this to see what your end result may be. Funny thing with mine, it's a manually and it will actually fire up and drive down the road perfectly fine when push started (just won't idle)!!!! I'm just as stumped as you are!

This sounds more like a ground problem. Particularly the one on the TB above the alternator. Like it's not connected or loose. Also this being a 1994 your ECM might be under your dash in front of the driver and there may be a bad ground connection there.

Sure does sound like the timing is off a tooth or two. I just fixed mine this weekend after just about pulling what is left of my hair out. Even if the timing belt/gears looks like they are all aligned up perfectly, what would it hurt to move it one tooth left or right? I used a dab of white paint to mark where I was on the cam gear as a starting point; already had a mark on the crank gear. Moved it a tooth the wrong way and no start. Moved it one tooth the other way past my starting point and all was good. Got my power back and my fuel mileage back. Where is was originally I had no power, stalling problems, fuel mileage issues etc. Not sure what happened, maybe during my radiator leak troubleshooting I didn't get the belt on right. I have had timing belts slip a tooth or two when they are on their last leg, even had one wipe out about 4 teeth worth of rubber as I was crossing an intersection from a stop. Good thing I am over-cautious crossing roads. I don't need a "In Memory Of..." sign posted with my name on it! Just sayin'. Seems like you are working too hard to get her running. |

I know, but doesnt make sense when I had her running and she ran for like little over 4 miles and gave out. I am going check the Timing again too and do all this stuff when I get my other car back, its got some of my tools in it. |

Hey Everyone just got back inside from working on my Geo. I re did the timing to it and made sure i took out all the spark plugs and made sure all the pistons were moving as i turned the Crankshaft. And they were, I re-timed it put everything back together and then poured a little bit of oil down the spark plug holes as someone mentioned. After waiting awhile I put the plugs back in and then Made sure the Disturber cap was in align with the number one spark plug wire. I hooked up my battery charger to her before I began to even crank it and put it on jump start just in case so she wouldn't run out of juice. She still didit want to start, So I did the next thing what Blue Rhino mentioned and added a bit of fuel to the TBI, I did that and she seemed like she was about to crank over. I tried and tried it agian same result, But, I did hear backfireing from the muffler though. So I took the number one spark plug out and poured a little bit of gas down there and put back together. After I did that and turning the key a few times she almost wanted to start. But she didit want to go. I also want to add that I checked all my grounds all my wires inside the car and under it and everywhere I could find one, Printed out that diagram above here and made sure. I still have to test the compression because that person got my car is still out LOL. But, I am leaning on the idea that either the Fuel Injector is bad and the Throttle Sensor is bad Or the Pressure Regulator is messing up! I cant pull the Fuel injector out because I gotta get me a new Torque screw driver set, apparently someone stole mine! But, if you can think of anything else that would be great and I will try get back to you guys with that compression test. Sincerely; FritzGeo |
