Well I just added her New Oil and Filter, I am going to let her sit for like 15 minutes from now and then try starting her and see if that does the trick! |

Fritz, did you check the timing after re-setting the spark plug wires? Tom |

yes, I did trust me I did LMAO. But, After the oil change and doing all that, she started right up, Backed her down, closed the hood, and then took her on my little road back and forth and she seems to be running alright. I still have a lot more test runs to do, and I am hopeing when I get a friend of mine to help me check my compression on her. But, I think that new oil did the trick. |

Have to ask if you checked the gap on the plugs? I torque the plugs to 20 foot pounds. The distributor posts and rotor are clean and tight. There is this thread on the oil relief valve causing no start due to high oil pressure. http://geometroforum.com/topic/4593450/1/ If it hasn't already been suggested. |

Hey everyone got some good news, after doing the oil change and all that. I test drove her for about 40+ miles and no problems, the only problem I am having is when I hit even the slightest up hill road and I am talking small she seems to die down on power, I had her going at 55 and she died down to 40 MPH I had to shift her in 4th! and another thing is she wanted give me a rougher time in 1st or reverse I really had to put the gas down to get her to take off. I had done the clutch job to her already, replaced everything even the pilot bearing, the disc pressure plate, disc, and throwout bearing AKA Release bearing. and before all of this started happening after I did the clutch she was running very fine. Any ideas why I am losing power like that? only thing I can think of is vacuum leak but, I am not hearing any hissing sounds of that nature. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. Sincerely; FritzGeo |

Also wanted to add do you think it could be the IAC (Ideal Air Control) or the TBS (Throttle Body Sensor)? That could be making it do something like that? |

Hi Everyone, I finally Got that compression test done. I started her up and warmed her up first. These are the Dry Test I did Piston 1- 140 PSI Piston 2- 140 PSI Piston 3- 145 PSI When I added some oil to them Piston 1- 180 Piston 2- 185 Piston 3- 180 Strange huh, I did this twice each time on everyone just to make sure. And yes I made sure to read the thread on how to do the test, I warmed her up, I turned her off, took the FI Fuse out, removed the ignition coil, then removed all the spark plugs. and had an assistant go in and hold the gas pedal all the way down and turn the ignition key. What do you all think? and still no one has gotten back to me on my last post! Any help and ideas would be appreciated sincerely; Fritzgeo |

Got 70 MPG?

![]() You've exceeded the minimum compression specs per the FSM. Good news though is that Your valves seem to be in good shape based off the results... |

Well that's good to hear. Any one have any ideas why when I am going 55MPH with her and i hit a slight incline she wants to die down to like 40MPH. The only thing I can think of is my TBS, There is a way to test it but, if I gotta adjust it Eh, think i will allow a mechanic to do that. Thanks everyone. Sincerely; FritzGeo |

Does the engine change sounds? Do you have a Tach and if so, does the RPM change? I went back through the thread to see if you had a automatic or a standard. I was wondering if it's an automatic and the fluid is low or something. I know my car really can't even make it up the driveway in drive without me giving it a bit of gas and my tranny is supposed to be good. |

She is a Manuel Gear- 5 Speed Shift + Reverse So she has a total of 6 gears to shift from. I got her home, let her rest for like 30 minutes while i did some reading up on it, and checked for a voltage leak didit see any, but I am hearing a weird like miss fire I think from piston one cant be to sure, but, I am going to take the plugs out and messure their gaps again. So its morning now and she had a good nights rest, I take her out for another rest drive, luckily I have a nice incline hill on my road, So I get there and park her then put her in first and try going up the hill, no problems. I do this several times, was doing it about 20 minutes and no problems, What I am thinking is its gotta be fuel delivery so I am going to go out and buy a new Fuel Filter! Even though the one I bought isn't less then 2 months old!. Going get a new one before I pop her off and get some inject cleaner too. Right now I am waiting for her to cool so I can check the Spark Plugs out again. I think I need get me a timing gun and do all that, because she just might be miss firing by a bit! Other then that that's all I can think of because I know its not the Catalytic any more because if it was and doing like 20 minutes of driving all that heat build up would of done it again. After I do that I am going to clear the codes from her and drive her around some more and see if that engine light pops up again, pretty sure it will it always does. When that light comes on I will dino her. Thats all I can do for her right now. Its driving me insane with this slow going up hills. Really just want to get a new car and be done with it. but, I cant help like working on her and finding out whats wrong with her and fixing it. Sincerely FritzGeo |

Ok got some information for everyone I went and took out the spark plugs and looked at the gap they had to be all around .39 or .38 but, just in case i came back inside did some research on here and fount that they should be set to .40 or 1.0mm on gap. under the hood it said .39 for the gap. I went with .40, I also fount out that my Spark plug washer on my number 1 spark plug was missing, luckily I always kept my old ones and took the washer off of that and put it on the new one, so after doing all that I took her for a test run on my road, for about 20 minutes I was driving her up and down and on hills, No Problems. So I took her to some of the other roads that were giving me a problem, went there and no problems. So I believe that I fixed the issue with her. I did not reset the PCM because the book told me not to, because I was going to disconnect the battery terminals and then wait like 30 minutes and reconnect them, the book said not to because it could mess up the readings and firing sequence. Said I had to use a OBD scan tool and reset it that way. After about an hour and half test driving everything is fine, Got bored went back out and lol drained and flushed the radiator fluid. ![]() But. short version Check the Spark Plugs, Gap them to .40 or 1.0 MM- Make sure they have there washer lol TY Sincerely; FritzGeo |
