I have a 97 geo metro 3/5 I have just finished replacing the following: cv outer boots (old ones completely split), cleaned and repacked the outer cv joints, new front bearings and seals new brake shoes and routers. Currently car is still on jacks. Brake calipers are not installed during this testing. The hubs/axels are hard to turn????? I would expect to make one revolution if spun. Is this normal for a fresh assembly prior to driving or did I do something incorrectly? The axle seemed to rotate freely when not in the hub but after it is installed it is difficult to turn. Tire would definitely not free spin if on and jacked up. I was thinking about the outer axle seal that has a metal cylinder with it that goes from the axle into the hub. I installed in the hub then inserted the axle and tightened axle nut. Does this need a break-in period or do I need to disassemble and check something? Advice is extremely welcome. |

Well your actually rotating the cv shaft and tire but it should be rather free. It wont spin like a tire mounted on a spindle with no axle but it should not be hard to rotate either by hand. |

The rotor is hard to turn with just one hand pretty much need two. Is there something I need to look at. I took the whole spindle off for installation of bearing. the rotor and new bearing spun very easy then, the axle also spun easily prior to putting in hub. when they are together it is hard to turn??? i guess i will have to disassmble and look around. Not sure what to check. |

Is the axle fully seated in the transmission? |

I will check in morning, felt so as when I tapped the outer CV joint. Could it have pulled out as I tightned the axle nut? |

If you had the spindle all bolted up and the axle was the right one, it should not pull out when you tighten the nut. |
