Hi I just joined the forum. I bought the car like this its a 98 metro lsi 1.3 the story is that the timing belt broke and was replaced and it wouldn't run so I bought it, the timing is right, it has fuel, compression is 150 on all 4. But It only has good spark sometimes on the 1,4 coil and a weak spark on 2,3 coil, sometimes it has no spark on either it also has a new 2,3 coil, cam and crank sensor and I have 2 computers for it, I just can't figure out why it only sparks sometimes . Thanks for any input. My name is andrew |

I suspect the crank sensor, does it have an oil pan gasket on it? If so, that's your problem, take it off and replace the oil pan with RTV only as a seal. |

What Woodie said and if you want to go looking for errant spark you can get some Windex as Jittney suggested and try this: |

try taking apart the plug towers attached to the coil #2 pack. unset the screw at the bootom of the coil, rough it with sandpaper and apply dielectric grease back on. rough all electrical contacts with sandpaper and grease. re-assemble. you can also measure the resistance of the secondary coil. measure from between 4) Measure secondary coil for resistance. Secondary coil resistance (“a” – “b”): 11.1 – 15.0 kat 20C, 68F If resistance is out of specification, replace ignition coil assembly.
