seized head bolts; head bolts

have 3 head bolts that will not loosen. 97 1.0L with 346k miles. last owner had work done,(dont know what). I want to do a complete over haul. any ideas on how to remove them without destroying anything?

Welcome to the forum. Are they regular bolts or are they allen heads? Have you tried using heat? Sometimes when they have set for a long time. I will try to tighten them just a little to start it moving. Also heat from a burnzOmatic helps too.

stock bolts. most likely reused. have tried tightening then loosening with an impact. not a good thing. will try the torch. will give a proper intro soon.

Take a heavy straight punch. Put it on the bolt head and using a BFH hit it. Don't be shy. It will now most likely come undone much easier.

Do not use an impact. You need a quality 6 point socket and a breaker bar to bust them loose before you round the heads off. Worst case, .................

I've never run across a head bolt that didn't yield to me using a 6 point and a breaker bar. :thumb

I have a very split high quality 6 point socket that proved to me otherwise. :shit ^o)
