I bought a used Metro a few months ago. for months the window would have small issues closing, but would always roll up. two days the window came out of the channel. I removed the door panel removed the channel.. I tapped the glass back in the channel.. i didnt use any sealants... So for about 20 up and down flawless and enjoyable cranks and one day later (They were perfectly smooth) the window comes out of the channel again... Should i use some type of sealant on this? I read "pay attention to the vertical tracks lubing them"... So any suggestions so i can get mor ethen a days use out of it? Thank You 91 Metro

When your window is down, will it move forward/backward between the channels? Both of my Metros would do that, maybe because the window channel flexes at the brackets. You can loosen the screws that hold the brackets in place and move the rear channel forward and front channel back just slightly when window is rolled all the way up. This took up enough of the slack in mine so it would stay in the track. One screw on rear channel you have to remove the seat belt winder to get to.

I had the same problem with the driver's door on Littlest Hobo when I first got him. I found the tracks kept moving and allowing the window to jump out. I added a reinforcing washer to the bottom mounting screws of front and rear tracks. It has been over a year now with no problems. Also I regularly use a silicone based lubricant on the guides and it also helps a lot. The wires hanging in the door in the pic are from the electric windows I have now installed. They are from my Swift GT donor car.![]() ![]() This is the spray I use on the tracks. It works very well. I had it for my now gone motorcycle. ![]() |
