Hi everyone, I recently have had my AC fixed(Blown fuse) ^o) Now when I turn the air on and hit the AC button my engine is shaking really badly. When I hit the gas it stops. Im guessing that this is apparently not normal at all. I had my personal mechanic look at it and WE thought it could be the front engine mount on the passenger side... I had to give the Metro experts a shot to diagnose. So what do you guys think Motor mount or some other thing? Thanks for reading... :thumb

Sir Metrologist

That is completely normal for me. However, I would still compression check it. ^o)

had something similar happen on my suburban one time, bearing in compressor was starting to seize up, more rpm got it turning good once the compressor clutch was engauged. If that is happening on a 3 cylinder, could be a whole lot more noticable making your idle drop too low to idle smooth. Just a guess, without actually seeing :hmm

when you turn the AC on there is a "thingy" that idles up the engine to make up for the additional power drag on the engine at idle. check the "thingy", its not working.----------comeon guys, I cant remember the name of the "thingy"..............

You may have an ISC if your 1994 has upgraded emissions. It's a black rectangular box on the back of the throttle body. It has a plunger that pushes on the throttle plate. Have someone turn the ignition on while watching it to see if it moves any.

You may or may not have one of these, if you do its either not working, or you need to adjust the screw on it.

Ok, I will have to take a look. What will I need to adjust it? Nothing special I hope. I ordered and engine mount from rock auto but if it is just the IAC or whatever it's called I will just ship it back....

A lot of times when something is not running right the first thing they do is start adjusting this and adjusting that and the next thing you know they have all the adjustments out of whack on top of what the malfunction really is and then they have a real mess. My suggestion is do not adjust nothing but rather look for a malfunction. Just my two cents. Start with the compression test. Once you know the internal health of the engine is well enough the engine is capable of running correctly, then proceed to find what the issue is. Poor internal engine condition causes all sorts of engine running problems, especially idle issues.

It's crazy because the engine will be doing fine if I cut the air just the air on but right when I press the AC it starts to act up....

A tune up of new spark plugs and wires and distributor cap and rotor goes a long way towards a strong running engine. This car ever been tuned up?
