Sir Metrologist

I guess I must be crazy, but every (stock) 1.0 I have seen shakes pretty good at idle with the A/C on. Nothing to be alarmed at, but just shaky.
GeoFanatic94 any chance you could get us some video? :hmm

I will try to get a video of it guys..... And yes I just had a tune up in February.... I have put close to 15,000 miles on it since then not sure if that matters or not. It's normal for the motor to shake like that though? I will do a video and put it on YouTube tomorrow for you guys. It's crazy shaky

Depends how rough the shake is. With the AC on, the engine has to put out more power to keep idling. While driving it's not that noticeable, when stopped it'll show up.

1)It could be the engine isn't increasing it's power when the ac is turned on. Others should chime in on testing these bits.

2)It could be your engine is too weak to compensate correctly. A compression test will give you a good idea of the engine health. 210 PSI is new, 156 is considered factory minimum. It'll run without problems down until about 90.

3)The AC compressor pulley could be damaged in some way, making it take a lot more effort to spin. You can remove the AC belt and see how much effort it takes to spin the pulley by hand.

I'd agree with starting with a compression test. Its annoying, but theres no point messing with any of this other stuff if the engine is just not strong enough to run the ac when at idle. Its a common geo problem with unhealthy engines.

Hey guys I know I was suppose to make a video but I didn't see a point I think my engine is weak when I turn on the AC while driving it bogs the engine down dramatically. I then when I turn it off its fine I kept doing this to make sure.... The engine just doesn't seem strong enough to maintain with the AC on.

Got 70 MPG?

Is this a high mileage engine? If it is, you may just have low compression from tired old piston rings. Most Metro owners who use A/C only do so after they've gotten up to speed. It doesn't take so much out of the car to maintain speed with A/C running, but accelerating will be difficult with A/C on.

if you will try googling: geometroforum motor mount fix

you will find quite a few threads that will tell you how to fix your mounts for aobut 10 bucks.

that might make you decide if you want to send the new mounts back or keep it.

However if you already have it, why not? Unless the money is a big issue, I'd put it on. If nothing else it should make the ride a little smoother. That being said, it's a ten minute job to replace that mount, so don't get shafted on it. It's held on with three bolts that can all be gotten to fairly easy.

Make sure to do the compression test with wide open throttle.
