Need some help here please. Put in a new O2 sensor. Car Runs in tip top shape. Still getting check engine light with code 13 (dash pause dash dash dash). CEL only comes on when reaching 50-60mph. But CEL is intermittent. It's a single wire O2 sensor. What should I be checking? Any ideas? Book shows its the o2 sensor circuit. Would it be a grounding issue with the sensor wire? Thanks Geo XFi getting 50-56 mpg!!! |

Did you reset the system when you replaced the O2 sensor? If not it may take a series of drive cycles for the ecm to reset itself. http://geometroforum.com/topic/638390/1/?x=50 |

Single wire sensor gets its ground from the exhaust pipe, which is pretty poorly grounded with all rubber hangers and a gasket between it and the engine. Connect a piece of wire to a bolt on the engine, battery negative would be better, but I'm thinking nearby for simplicity and safety. Strip about six inches of the other end and just wrap it around the base of the O2 sensor, where it screws into the manifold. Drive it for a couple of days to see if the flicker light goes away. If so, come up with a more elegant solution. |
