fuel pressure regulator; spring

hi to all...have a '94 3/5...chasing down a fuel delivery issue and I opened up the TBI fuel pressure regulator to check state of Diaphragm and the spring jumped out. putting it back together now...does the spring go in first or does the spring go between the Diaphragm and cover ? :hmm

The spring goes between the diaphram and the cover.
