Cutch Pedal Removal (Help!)

I am in the process of switching out my automatic to a manual transmission. On my parts car I can not seem to get the clutch pedal assembly out of the interior of the vehicle. I have removed all of the nuts and nothing is budging. Anyone with experience in this have any pointers? I have removed the tranny, clutch, cv shafts and linkage with no issues at all. The clutch pedal assembly on the other hand has got me stumped.

Thanks!

I havn't pulled one of these out before, but looking under the dash at mine, it looks like there are at least 2 spot welds that you will have to drill out to remove it. If you look on each side between where the studs came through for the brake booster, you should see a disoloration in the metal like a hot spot. I am just guessing, but most of the cars I have worked on before, that is how they set stuff at the factory is with a spot weld. To remove, either use a drill bit and drill through spot weld or you can buy a spot weld bit from a place like Eastwood (everything you ever dreamed about for paint and body) that has a special spring loaded drill bit with a mini hole saw that the drill goes through the metal and the hole saw cuts over the spot weld on one side only, that way you have a nice little hole to wire feed weld when you put it back together... :P Good luck.

Thanks! I thought that could be a possibility and it totally makes sense. I'll take a closer look at this.

Thanks!

Don't listen to that other guy. There are either four or five nuts that hold it to the firewall and there are two that hold it from the top mount. After you get these loose you will have to get the clutch cable popped off the top of the clutch arm to get the pedal assembly out.

I found the two top bolts, and I went ahead and lowered the steering column too (only 2 extra bolts). From all the postings no one ever mentioned that the brake pedal will come out too! Lol well anyways I got the assembly out and now I just got to set aside a day to get cracking on the swap vehicle.

Thanks!

Glad somebody knew the answer for you. Wasn't trying to lead you astray, that's why I said "just guessing". The best way to know a car is to strip it till there is nothing left to strip, then put it back together, lol.
