I have A 95 Metro with 1.3L automatic trans. The problem is when cold the transmission works fine, but after driving for a while it's real hard to move the shifter and sometimes it wont even go into park it looks and feels like it's in park but when you remove your foot from the brake it will roll backwards. I have removed the console so I can see everything and it appears to be in park but it rolls any way and it will not start like it's still in gear and I notice that the solenoid that move the little plastic piece that lets it go into gear is no longer working . But when it's cold everything works fine. I have checked the fluid its full but not real clean. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :banghead

.
The temperature influence is stumping me. I have a 1994 auto and the only issue I ever had with hard shifting was with the shift cable itself. A previous owner had removed the retaining clip and so I had to secure it before I could shift from inside the car. I don't think temp would affect a mechanical cable in any way. I can only suggest checking to ensure it's secure and maybe even lube the cable where it exits the protective sleeve. Let us know if you figure it out.
