We did on a 1966 Valiant so that the Craiger Ss wheels would work. It was an A\MP
with a 426 Hemi. No Problems

the inherent problem with using a hub adapter on a metro is that it moves the center line of the wheel out, even if it's only a matter of 1/2 an inch.

the wheel bearings on a base model metro (equipped with 12" wheels) are really light duty and they will not stand up to the increased overhanging load presented by using hub adapters.

some racers i have known have had bearing problems using adapters on the way heavier duty bearings on the gt models.

don't take me as saying that it's impossible to do but you have to sharpen that pencil and do some math to make it work.

you calculate the center line of the original rim and tire, add the width of the adapter, and then select a rim size and offset that maintains the original center line (wider the tire the deeper the rim offset.)

remember that everything has to tuck into the wheel well. i've seen some guys who have gotten the tires too wide with improper rim offsets who have sliced up the shoulders and sidewalls of their rear tires by getting it wrong. there are some areas where clearance is a problem on the front setup, too. you can get into the inner fender and the rear of the front wheel house while steering at slow speeds and high steering angles when the tires get too big.

True story. I know this from first hand experience. My really tall tires rub a little on the rear of the frong wheel house during slow speed turns.

Because you turn the wheel more at slower speeds. If you turned the wheel as much as you need to in order for it rub at higher speeds, you'd shoot off into the woods :lol
