Went up about $0.50 is less than a week due to refinery delivery issues. Long lines of SUV's at Costco waiting to fill up - a sea of them, with one small red metro in there too (mine). Insane. Here's prices in Los Angeles http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/gas/ Edited by JellyBeanDriver, Oct 5 2012, 07:47 PM.

Why is everything so damn expensive in California? Is it a sign of a stronger, or weaker economy, inflated minimum wages or something? I live in the midwest and everything from real estate to gas to food is dirt cheap compared to California. |

High taxes, fees, and we spec everything to be 'greener' (recycling fee, 'cleaner' gasoline, no gas leaf blowers, no smoking on the beach, etc). Legislature is crazy and there's not enough sane people to vote them out of office. |

everything is expensive in places like california and new york. it's not a sign of a stronger economy or a weaker one, it's a sign of inflation in that particular region. here in houston gas is way cheaper, it was 3.3something last time i filled up. everything else is also cheaper. when i was in new york this summer everything was almost twice what it costs here. |

Yea I never understood the love affair with California....especially not in these times. All I can say is that you choose where you live. (not saying that it isn't hard to move) These high gas prices must be on another conspiracy on how Cali hates and discriminates against geos..... Gas goes up .50 truck people park their gas hog. It goes down .30 and people decide to buy more trucks. |

In some parts of cali they are paying 5.50+.... The reason why we have such horrible prices is because this state has a terrible public transportation system , so everyone has one or 2 cars. Cali was built around the car if that makes any sense. The only city that I can safely say that is commuter/pedestrian friendly is Frisco, but that's about it. So what does that mean well the law of supply and demand is a perfect scenario here. We demand a lot and the supply is limited , there fore if you want to drive you have to pay what the fat cats want. Let me give you an example.. I live in So Cal (it's 4.25) and when I travel to Salt Lake (it's 3.45) why the difference ? the population is about 3.5 million vs Los Angeles with 18 million. More cars+more demand= HIGHER PRICES. That is why I bought a Metro

Its $4.77 here when I went to work tonight. I stopped and looked at a 3/5 Metro about a 96 sitting on a dealers lot yesterday. It had not been prepared for sale yet. He's asking $2990 because it gets good mileage. I looked at it real hard. Its in pretty bad shape. |
