.... the law of supply and demand is a perfect scenario here. We demand a lot and the supply is limited ....
.... and then we demanded that the supply be limited further: New sanctions on Iran boost oil prices oops bad math. Removing a supplier from the market does not help relieve a shortage.

California is what I call "The Land of Smug".
People move here wanting to live the non-existent "California Dream" and want to make it big in "Hollywood" and overcrowd the place with their stupidity. They want to be the people on tv only to find out that its expensive and not worth it, they finance the rest of their lives just to show off. The reason gas is up the butt is because all these people bring their cars and so the demand for gas goes up...and the price follows. The tourists dont help either :news
:news

no, seriously, stop with all the beating around the bush and 'sugar coating', tell us how your REALLY feel!!! :P

This one time, in January, I almost froze my butt off... and had to put on a sweater! :D

I'm chuckling at your harsh generalized observation of California people. You must have your reasons... :cheers

Tell you the truth its a myth that we get oil from Iran. Everything I find online :news leads me to believe that we don't buy any of their oil and we ask other countries NOT TO either. :whistle
China and Japan are their biggest customers.

I was reading a very nice article on a guy who is trying to perfect the FUEL VAPOR technology. This guy puts an accessory part to the engine and it increases your mileage by 30% if not more. He just has to work out the problem with the emissions.
What I don't understand is why we don't back this man with money from the government instead of giving it to Karma Fisker and his 100k+ electric car, that only the rich ca afford.

Hey everybody...if you want to build your own 200mpg carburetor, here's all the patent info, with the drawings: http://www.rexresearch.com/pogue/1pogue.htm

Somebody here ought to try it...see if it works...

While WE might not buy oil from Iran, many other countries have, especially in Europe. Those countries now have to buy oil from other sources, which DOES drive up prices. Including prices on domestically produced oil, which makes oilmen in Texas and Oklahoma very happy.

Europe actually pay almost if not more than double for gas than we do. I have family in Germany and Finland and they both tell me to not complain about these new $4.50 Cali gas prices hahaha.
They pay on average $2.55 a litter. Which can sometimes average out to $10 a gallon!
The streets would be up in arms if our prices were that high!
Just drive a Metro and everything will be fine :p

That's what I keep telling my wife. If a product can be sold for MORE money overseas, that's where companies are going to sell it.
They are not "going to sell it domestically for a lower price for the good and relief of the domestic people".

Doesn't matter if it's oil, concrete, steel, etc.

That was kinda my point. People still talk about how somebody or other (usually a corporation, but corporations are people too now, right?) bought up the technology and is keeping it from people who might want to build it. Yet you can find the patent drawings and description (for whatever it might be worth) right on the web. I didn't see anything that would make it very wonderful, but I'm no engineer.
