OK, Anybody who wrenches for a living. You have worked on a variety of cars in your past. My question is; What will be the next sought after used car, keep in mind, gas milage and the ease of repairs. Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai ????

Any Honda 4 cylinder, `92 or newer, prefer the d15/d16 engine series. My wife's next car will be a vw jetta 1.9 tdi.

I'd say move to 1999 or newer for the "next" Metro. (10 year jump)

My guess is a Saturn, maybe a Toyota Echo.

After almost 15 years of turning wrenches there are not many newer cars that have impressed me at all. I got nothing...

My next ride will be a pickup truck, i like the 83-86 fullsize mainly, in 87 they had paint failure as an issue, Want a 283, 305, or a 350 for engine, 1 wire alt, carburated a must, 4 or 5 speed and lifted, WITH a ladder on the side for my short ass to get in and out of.

You are definitely going for gas mileage.....

That 305 should be a 327 IMO.

:gp .....I would go with a d series 5 spd for sure if I couldn't easily find a geo. Parts are easy to find and cheap. The engines last a long time.

Scrap that how did I forget the 1st gen insight. The only thing I'm scared of with the insight is dealing with the IMA battery....

Take a Chevy Aveo, yank out the entire drivetrain and make it Metro powered. Some massive weight reduction and lots of fab, but it would work.

I'll probably eventually get a Toyota Echo. reliable and great MPG. Geo Tracker's seem pretty interesting too though they don't get nearly as good mpg unfortunately :/

Meh. Can't say VW would be a replacement, they are much too complicated and expensive to repair. The Smart is probably worse, isn't it a Benz? Mini cooper is BMW, same problem.
