There can be several things happening. For the 5th problem. Its a common problem for the phillips head screws that hold the bearing retainer plate to rattle loose. It lets the shafts move around instead of the sliders moving. The shaft moves. Down shifting is hard on syncros. Its common for the PO to abuse a Metro trans then sell it rather than fixing it. Try double clutching to see if it works any better for the down shifting. Sometimes the screw work loose and fall into the oil. Try draining the oil and see what shows up in it. Also check the linkage going from the shifter to the trans. If the bushings are bad or worn you might have problems with the 5th. |
