So real talk, while I do enjoy effortessly squealing the tires around turns while never topping 30mph, having my Camile handle like a wet rag doesn't always give me the greatest feeling of safety on the road. :hmm That put me on the hunt for some wider wheels/tires, but in the meantime I've been Reading through a bunch of threads here an doing some research, an I've seen several really enticing sway/strut bars like mcmancuso's Sick-awesome custom setups :drool and as inexpensive they are, I just don't have the extra $$$ to get any right now :(
Anyways, now that my little sob story is out of the way, I was wondering if anyone in a similar financial position had tried just bolting down a bar like this or maybe one like this??
I figured you could just cut your needed length and either press down the ends or leave them and drill a hole through, then bolt them right on. don't know if this would work but I don't see why not. For 10 bucks, it'd be hard to go wrong! :dunno
Anyone try this? I prolly will this week an post pics if I do! :rocker

Did you look under the car before you thought about this?

:P yes. I don't plan on removing my exhaust pipe so no this wasn't for the underbody. My terms are prolly confusing, sorry. I was just thinking of putting a bar across the trunk space where it's easy to bolt on and there's nothing in the way. and possibly... (i haven't taken a close look yet) using the angle peice under the hood if I could work it around the air filter housing.

Strut bars are going to have little/no effect on a car with a stock, worn out suspension. What they do is stiffen up the frame of the car so that the suspension has a more stable platform from which to do it's work. Your worn out suspension is doing no work, so you're going to create a nice, sturdy base with a wet rag bolted to it.

The reason your car flops around is because the struts are worn out and it has NO SWAY BARS. When you throw it into a turn, the weight shifts and it simply flops over. Put some KYB struts on it and make sure all the rubber suspension bushings are in good shape. Then you can consider if you want to add anti-sway bars to it. Once you've done all that, then you'll have some components resisting the body roll and putting stress on the frame. That's when you start thinking about strut braces. Right now you have no stresses on your frame, just roll.

No, you do not want Monroe, those KYB's are the way to go, and that is an excellent price. I paid $200 + shipping.
