![]() I have the chassis rot issue near both front control arms, planning on welding it up as others have done here. I took the car down the road to keep it rolling in the meantime and snapped the front passenger axle while lightly braking and turning left. Car came to a grinding halt. How bad is it, that it's broken on the transmission side? Car does not drive in any gear now. |

It should pull right out. If it doesn't you can try to gently pry on different parts of the CV axle input with a crow's foot (flat crow bar) |

Thanks. So I'm guessing I should replace the whole thing? I think this is what I'll need but not sure: http://www.cardone.com/Products/Product-Detail?productId=661303&p=rock $43 at rock auto.

After fixing the frame rot, please install a Turbine Tech frame brace to keep those areas from flexing under load. |

Very cool brace. My car is for off-roads use only. It's my cheap-ass winter racing project car, bought it for $250. 55,000 original kms on motor and body, salted winter roads and it just sat in a field for too long I think. Aside from the chassis rot all it should need is a brake line repair, 2 front rotors and now an axle. I will see if I can fab something up to strengthen that area similar to that brace. (edit: or buy new/used and sell when I'm done with it) I have already gutted the car, took out 101lbs of weight, the passenger's seat also weighs 28-29lbs if I want to leave that out.
