Looking to get a leather hat. Tried on a Henschel Australian leather hat in black that the wife liked but this was at a tourist place - $20 more than online. Now that we're home and I'm looking around, I see the same style from Kakadu, Minnetonka, Barmah. Here's the Minnetonka ![]() Henschel ![]() Kakadu ![]() Anyone here own one of these or similar? How do they wear as far as heat, weight, etc. |

Wife did say when I tried on the Henschel at a the tourist place - "Whoa, you look like the bad guy in a western." I've currently got a lame mesh/wide brim hat that I wear at the ranch. Lots of sun out there when you're not under the pepper trees. Edited by JellyBeanDriver, Oct 10 2012, 10:39 PM.

Thought about that but I've read reviews both ways. The Henschel is a pretty heavy hat so I'm thinking it's out of the equation but it is the only one I've tried in person and it does look good on me. Came up with even more choices - these are felt but same style as above. Akubra Stetson Damn - think I need to go to a hat store. |

The hat that Indie made famous is a fedora. I think his was made by Stetson. It was a classic hat that a lot of men wore daily in the 30's and 40's. You could always consider a straw for warm weather. Almost every hat style is available in a straw version for summer. |
