I haven't topped 75 yet, but I'm still trying to get a realistic baseline mpg before I start doing things to improve it. I think it'll do more if I ask.

1187 mph in an F18 . . .
What's that in mach? Were you above controlled airspace? B-)

about 1.4--if you are in a F18 YOU ARE the 'controlled air space'
You damn right you are. I mean seriously..Who the hell is going to say something to you. You can always press that little red button and make them disappear ha.

I got mine up to 85 last week. The slowing down was the scary part I had to slow down quickly and the car was really shaky.

53 mpg last trip

In the 4 cyl 2000 LSI I use to have, I hit 90 MPH going up a long grade. 75 mph in my '92 convert....same grade...in 4th....5th gear cant pull it.

I've gone 130 mph in a 340 Duster ( scary ), and my Vette will cruse at 130 at 'half throttle'.

Back when I had my 3cyl 94 Geo Metro I got pulled over coming back from L.A.

COP: "You know how fast you were going back there son?"
ME: "Hmm.. probably about 80ish?"
COP: "I clocked you at 90 back there..."
ME: "Really?!? I didn't even know this thing could go that fast!"
COP: "Yea we were surprised parts weren't falling off at that speed"

Ended up not getting a ticket that night B-)

Members who have been here a while will remember this... I haven't been out playing on any freeways in the past few years but the last time I was in SoCal was right after putting my header and exhaust on and I was playing on the 405 freeway with a Bimmer at 80-90+ mph. He couldn't loose me. :lol That was not much faster than the flow of traffic at 75-80 mph. :D

There was the time I went up a 7% grade in 3rd gear at 65-70 mph. :D

coming thru downtown St Louis from 44-70 - this is the main artery to Illinois, and hwy 44, 55, and 70 all converge. some total tool in a BMW almost runs me off the highway by not letting me over. and then the jerk wanted me to let him over, end up with me being a dick in turn and speeding up. combo of the traffic and a 90 degree change in the road direction thru the city led to top speeds 'only' in the 90s but due to his peevish driving and my blatant disregard for the safety of myself or my vehicle - he finally backed off and got in line looking at my tiny tailpipe
so stupid! man that 1 minute at 90+MPH in the Geo was LOOONG!

I had a sustained 90 for several miles on a straightaway near Bellingham a few weeks ago. Surprised me how long it lasted and how smooth it was.

Used to hide my needle in my dash on my old Galaxie and Delta 88. The speedometer went to 120 and had an inch or two to go.

Though I once got mine up to 73mph. Of course, it was while going down hill, with a tailwind, while closely following a semi, and I was leaning really far forward - so I could just barely see over the steering wheel, and a I had white-knuckled, "10 & 2", grip on the steering wheel. :drivin

Top speed of 157KM/h flat out (just under 100MPH) with a worn engine 8 valve, 1.3L SOHC four door 1995 geo metro. After 140K it takes a little longer to get up to 155KM/H .We've ordered new rings and I estimate we should gain enough power to reach 115MPH or higher. The wheels are well balanced and give no vibration at this speed.
We have a little fun video of us trying to keep up from some old lady who was driving a Pontiac Wave (daewoo) like a pro.
