I did 100 once or twice down a hill on i5 south on my way to portland airport. Also got a ticket last year in kelso doing 90mph pacing a corvette all the way up from portland with a donut spare on the front. Speedo may have been off due to the donut but the stater got my for like 87 in a 60. |

I hit somewhere between eighty-five and ninety playing leapfrog with a friend of mine. Other than that instance, I pretty much sit at 70 or 75 on the freeway, depending on the speed limit. |

Did a ricer fly by past 91geoconvert and King Thursday last weekend. Had to have a lot of room but 90 mph was no problem. I wonder what she would max out at?

I did 85 mph in my '91 automatic. It was silky smooth but the engine was at a very high rpm. I did 85 in my '98 3 cyl 5 speed and it probably could've done quite a bit more, but the worn out, rusty body felt like it was going to rattle itself apart. |

on my way to palooza 2013 GPS and swift GT dash confirmed 121.8 mph downhill. 3 speed auto. Straight exhaust with cat, TBI bridge delete, open air k and n filter , 93 octane . I have a witness and two dogs to prove it . |

What is that, like 29,000 rpm? My goal is to someday push my Vert up to 75, but I'm afraid that once I've felt that kind of rush, I'll want more and just might have to go all the way. To 80.

Pretty sure your crank could be substituted for a jet engine at those RPMs.

Our friend Bvilleracer hit 135 on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2011. On flat ground. I was there cheering him on.

I was nearly at the revlimiter , Id say 6000-6500 rpm. She was screaming for sure. I assure all automatic metro owners if you have a healthy engine you can safely drive you metro 70-80 mph without issue. I did it this summer on my way to and from geopalooza . There was many times (not just this past summer) that I have driven 80+ for mile after mile. My car has the orginal engine with just a tick over 374k miles and is down on cylinder 3 to 135psi . These g10 motors will put up with having the snot beaten out of them as long as its running good. Also having owned a 5 speed 2 door i will say the auto picks up speed faster at highway speeds perhaps due to the gearing or lack there of |

Just finished a complete steering and suspension R & R on my 'Vert. Also went from 13s to 15 inch tires, and from the 4.35 tranny to a 4.1 tranny. Been up to 85mph good and smooth on the freeway. Getting the brakes 100% redone now and a couple of other things. ---- maybe I will try to top 100 in the near future. |

[formula removed becasue it was wrong as heck... Thanks to clarkdw for pointing it out] Instead, just use this online calculator... http://www.csgnetwork.com/rpmcalc.html Since my vert is our second car (and my primary car right now), I don't think I'll be shooting for 100 mph anytime soon, but I do like reading about you guys doing it! 5th gear is not 1:1 it is 0.757 OD so 6884 X 0.757= 5211 rpm |
