Northwest Louisiana authorities are investigating the source of whatever shook people's residences and businesses about 11:40 p.m. Monday. The Webster sheriff's office now is entertaining the possibility that it may have been a meteorite, possibly in the Dixie Inn area. There have been a large number of reports stating that they saw something come down instead of something blow up, a spokesman said. Read more........ http://bringthedoom.com/topic/8183182/1/ |

Wow, Dixie Inn is just about 10 miles from my hometown. I'll have to ask my mom if she know anything about that. I didn't hear anything in northwest arkansas. Maybe too far away, though. One more thing: Barksdale Air Force Base is about 20 miles from Dixie Inn. It could well be that a super sonic Air Force Jet made an emergency landing at Barksdale. It would need that distance to slow down for the landing. Edited by dayle1960, Oct 16 2012, 08:01 AM.

I talked to my mom about the boom. She heard it and wondered about the source. Seems there is a munitions production plant called Camp Minden which sits just a stones throw from I-20. Mom lives about five miles from the Camp. As reported to her, there was an ammunition explosion within a storage bunker inside of the Camp's perimeter. No sonic boom, just a bomb boom. |
