I have a 92 metro, I was driving and when downshifting it somehow got "stuck" in neutral. How serious might this problem be? Where do I start to figure out what is wrong? |

Potter has the right idea. See if it shifts with the motor off and parked. If it does, pull the tranny and replace the clutch. If it does not, pull the tranny and repair or replace it. (Check the linkage and cable before you go too deep) |

Also to make sure to check the bushings in the shift assy, when you do these tests. Check the mounts too. A tired mount could mean the trans is not where it should be in relation to the linkage. Let us know what you find. |
