How do you even get cited for speeding in a Geo? Let alone an XFi!? I was in a 65mph zone and the genius in front of my was hauling ass at 50 mph so I sped up to move around him (california, speed up or die). I squeezed 75 to just get through traffic and around him when I hear a "bwoop bwoop". The word fuck could be heard as far away as where Shinrin lives I bet :die

Real a-hole of a cop and the $$$ is $200.00 What!? $200 for 10 mph over the speed limit? Really? In a Geo!? Don't pull over the Camaro doing 90+ speeding past me, get me instead. Screw you california, I can take a ticket and accept responsibility but $200? Yeah right

What a bummer... the cops here in Orange county can be real peaches when it comes to speeding past 5 miles over the limit too. Especially over by the Costa Mesa/Huntington Beach area.

Is 10mph over the limit different in a Geo than in another car?
Why is the cop an asshole? Because he caught you?
I agree $200 is way too much but I bet you think twice next time before speeding...... even in a geo.

Were you tailgating the 50MPH guy or hitting your lights, or?
Or just driving safe and sane but 75mph to get around a 50MPH guy.

Wasn't tailgating, just realized that the guy in front was going very slow and in a few seconds I'd meet his back bumper. This is california so that means as soon as I started slowing down the guy behind me was up on my ass within hitting distance (about a foot). I was VERY cautious about this and was driving safe and sane (no lights flashing, no tailgating, even had my blinker on). I simply sped up to move around and got clocked.
Now Iamgeo, the cop was an asshole because he started getting all "authority" with me saying I should keep my clunker off the road and that I should be lucky I wasnt getting a bigger fine. Thats an asshole sir

Please don't mention California, Richard is going to be all over this topic when he sees it.

Also I think I need a life when I feel proud to be referenced in a post.

Cheap? The last ticket I got (2007) I was going 17mph over in Hidalgo New Mexico and it was $91.00

move to clear lake. they don't ticket you for anything. i've been let go after speeding 10 over in a 35 and running a stop sign, being slightly over the legal limit for blood alcohol content, doing donuts, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, speeding again, not having current registration and inspection, not having proof of insurance while speeding, wreckless lane changing, nearly running my friend off the road... while speeding ( on accident of course). the list goes on.

they will ticket you even less if you drive a geo.

I usually stay reasonably within the speed limits, but I dont really worry about it too much.

Biggest reason is because the District court Judge holds his boy scout troop's weekend campout "in the wild" on the back of my wooded 10 acres-----and a little worry is taken away when the county sheriff holds his department BBQ in my front pasture each year.

Yeah small communities are great!

Why would the cop say your car is a clunker? Does it smoke a lot? Beat up?
Did he say that just to irritate you? Or is there some truth to what he said?

Whether its a clunker or not, its not professional to mention anything about his car other than it was going too fast.

Yea it sucks. You were speeding and got a ticket. $200 is pricey for 10 over.

The cop is not being unprofessional by telling a person their car is a clunker and he could get other tickets.
