The cop is not being unprofessional by telling a person their car is a clunker and he could get other tickets.
Police fan boy here!

The word fuck could be heard as far away as where Shinrin lives I bet :die

Real a-hole of a cop and the $$$ is $200.00 What!? $200 for 10 mph over the speed limit? Really? In a Geo!? Don't pull over the Camaro doing 90+ speeding past me, get me instead. Screw you california

Oh gosh, how do they say it? "ROTFLMAO"!!! :lol This would not be as funny if it did not remind me of the time I got a $100 ticket for dark window tint on my Geo going 5 MPH UNDER the speed limit. In the words of Arron: What!? Really? In a Geo!? It happens brother. :lol :cheers

200 bucks? How do they do it so cheap?
No kidding! All said and done, it wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be almost double that...

More than ever before, this financially broke state's officials are using the CHP and the courts to essentially levy another 'road tax' on us citizens. Not only through much more aggressive traffic enforcement and speed traps, but the State recently increased the portion of the fines collected by the municipalities to 75% of the fine. The municipalities claim they must increase the fines, since Sacramento has mandated a bigger slice of the pie :rasp

My buddy got a ticket for going 5 under the speed limit. 60 on the freeway, sounds much more like a geo to me. And, of course, it's here in Cali.

I think that would be "Impeding traffic". I hate tickets! My whole attitude towards police changes for a couple months after.

It comes out to be a lot more $$ in Massachusetts. The ticket is usually under $100, but it goes on your insurance for 6 years. Last time I checked, this comes out to around $2100 over 6 years :O ... Luckily the last time I got a speeding ticket was in 1993 (knock on wood). BTW, the cops here don't seem to be biased against Geos. They are also courteous and it's not their fault the insurance companies do this...

What if the car was completely legal, but just a beat up pos?

Unprofessional imo. What if he called your clothes trashy. Whether they are or not doesnt matter. Its not really needed.

Yes I have had a cop pull me over and call my car crappy. It doesnt offend me.

Its really quite simple.
If you dont want to pay a find then obey the law.
If you dont like California politics then move out of state

EDIT: Just dont move North. I have enough neighbors that were Californicators :lol

Last year my brother got a speeding ticket (unsafe speed) on the 101 fwy for doing 25mph, yes twenty five, in his ’91 Toyota Tercel. Entering the on ramp at 25mph, the freeway traffic was stopped, so my brother continued at 25 along entrance/exit lane without merging, and then exited the Fwy. CHP pulled out of traffic and chased him down.
Fought like hell in front of the judge, and lost of course. I think it was $250?

Ha, my brother also had a speeding of 65 in a 45mph (farming road) on radar, used his lawyer in court, and the CHP officer refused to testify, yes, CHP showed up and refused to testify, if cross-examined by defense lawyer. Brother won that case.

Be damned if I know why/how this shit happens

I'm not mad about being given a ticket, I was speeding. I'm mad that they called my geo (which is pretty nice for its age) a clunker and being rude about it. Everyone else was going faster as well, why pull me over?

I had a "law enforcement" person tell me last week that CA/SD isn't even ticketing speeders as much - they want the big bucks:
towing 2 trailers to the desert without a class C license? $700
driving a registered RV van without full interior etc? 300-400 + back fees
I see CHP on the 8 watch everyone go by at 75, waiting for the real big fish
replete with stories of police ticking people for "attitude", when theirs is often worse
not that I'd want the job, it is often thankless and dangerous
If you don't like CA politics throw the bums out - same goes for the US. I'm not moving - they can all leave.
