thats what I would try as the next step.....would be cheaper and easier if that would fix the leak. |

Wish I still had the old ones, but they are long gone. Took it back to the shop as its obvious it's coming from the seals. I guarantee I won't be paying any more money, that's a fact. If they had put a mic on those axle journals like I asked in the first place they wouldnt be redoing them. |

At least the tranny isnt trashed! thats a big WHEW!!! Still, dealing with a mechanic/shop in that circumstance is not fun. |

Shop guy was actually in a chipper mood this morning when I dropped the car off. He has a plan of attack on the axles. He's going to Mic them, check it all out, and most likely call a custom seal shop and have a set of seals made. I'm all for it, as it's pouring oil as it sits right now. I also discussed my finding on undersized axle journals and such, and he agreed it is a good possibility. He is positive it's the right seals, and he is positive they were put in correctly. In the mean time, noticed the passenger side boot on the axle was torn at the wheel side. I told him to reboot or put a new axle in it, I didn't care. Be crazy not to do it while it's all apart. Will keep updating as I learn more. Custom seals will take a couple of days, but I have another vehicle to drive so no big deal. |

Update: looks like the axles were the culprit. Mic put on them and passenger side was egg shaped with a runout of 2.5 mm. They've had it for four days, driving and cycling and looking for leaks. They have assured me it's dry as a bone. So, I'm out for two brand new (not remanufactured) axles. I'll be taking the reman axles back and should hopefully get a refund on them. It's been a while so not sure if it will happen or not but we shall see. |
