5) Grow slowly. If things take off like wildfire you should chill out for a while. Perhaps raise your prices to trim back the amount of customers. Rapid grown and all the pitfalls that it brings will kill a business.
Excellent advice here. The company I work for (which I love dearly) is imploding right now because of this. I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave, I'm killing myself trying to keep up.

My parents use to dp a paper route. Its 1099 forms so you are like an independed contractor. you can deduct stuff from your taxes, but it doesnt pay much.

I use to run a wheelchair modification website that showcased the mods I did as an assistant rehab enginer. It made up to 400 bucks a month and just cost me 50 bucks a year for hosting and some time to write and post stuff.

All I had to do was depost the checks from the advertisiers. I was a victim of the feature price disaster and lost my domain name and advertisers.

I had help from metroschultz making an old dodge van wheelchair accessible for transporting my disabled father around. I had many people asking to transport their family meember around and were willing to pay up to 100 bucks a day for private services at their leasure. I found out my current auto insurance co wouldnt pay for an accident if I did it for profit. Found out I needed liability insurance which was a grand a month and would cover multiple employees not just me.

I talked to multiple people about what to do. Some said do it on the side til I saved up enough to buy insurance. Others said there is always someone looking to take advantage of small busnesses and I could loose my shirt. I never followed through with it.

Some disabled people I know started websites that sold crap like the harrier carter catalog as well as mary carol make up. Some women at work have dildo parties. :thumb

Old Man

When I was a very young man many years ago I temporairly sold vacumn cleaners door to door. Also sold Mary Kay Jewelery via 'parties'. Never made much monies but the evening Mary Kay parties were always a lot of single young girls and the daytime vacumn door to door sales were many lonely women. :D :evillol
