So my GF's 1993 Metro had a problem where the engine mount bracket failed and we were able to purchase a replacement from the fabulous oldzman442, which was awesome. Today when I was checking the oil, I noticed this:

It looks like the mount is failing and something bad is about to happen. Anyone have any feedback on what might be going on here?

Thanks!

Got 70 MPG?

Check out where the bracket bolts to the block, it may have broken off there. Also check the rear transmission mount, it's on the far right side of the engine and it's on the firewall at the bottom. Is it holding everything together?

Thanks for the info. She just left with the car, I will have her check tomorrow. What would cause the car to keep eating motor mounts?

On my car, the PO replaced the engine and forgot to hook back up the rear transmission mount. This will cause the motor to lean back towards the firewall and cause stress on the other mounts. You never know...

Has the motor ever been changed in this car?
It looks as though you have the wrong bracket on the motor, and it's at the wrong angle.

Good bye

That looks like a manual mount in an automatic car. The engine sits back in an automatic car.

Not sure if the engine was ever changed. The car is a manual transmission, 1993 Metro LSi convertible.

Looks like something has been changed. Here is my 93 LSI vert.

1dcguy you are spot on. I see that aswell it is indeed the wrong mount. You do appear to have the wrong nount for your car.

Is it going to be the bracket that is wrong, the round part or both? Anyone have the right one?

Is his engine sitting too far back? Maybe like someone said the rear motor mount is gone/missing?
Interesting

You say you bought an engine mount bracket? Is it possible you got an Auto one?

I will check with the guy I got it from. I'm wondering if the motor is out of place, looking at those pictures. So frustrating!

Here's some comparisons:

the MT is on the bottom

More mount comparisons:

When I did my AT->MT swap, I used the AT passenger side mount and the MT rear mount and it all looks nice and aligned with straight CV shafts.

Thanks for putting the pics together B5. I think that this will make it obvious. My manual trans mount is on the right.
