Just bought a 91 Geo Metro 4dr hb with the 1.0 litre efi engine. When it didn't pass emissions I took it to a mechanic and he told me #1 cyl had between 15 and 60 psi compression. Car only smokes sometimes when first started and doesn't seem to use much oil. Any suggestions? And how bad a job is it to rebuild? Thanks |

Welcome to the forum. Easiest car you will ever rebuild. Lots of information in the how to section. Its usually burnt valves. Since so many people have been in these engines and you dont know what you have inside anymore, unless you bought the car new and know noones done anything to it. I recommend pulling the engine out and having it bored and go oversize on the pistons and do the valve job. If your good at measuring, you could break it down and inspect it and if it looks within specs, go back standard. |
