I have a 1999 Chevy Metro LSI with the G13BB engine configuration and the origional 16 valve SOHC efi head. Question: is the Suzuki Vitara 1.3 1.6 SOHC 16V cylinder head compatible with my block? Is the cylinder head displacement the same, and if not how will it affect my: compression ratio, performance, reliability, longevity and gas mileage, etc?. Is the valve train/geometry compatible, with the Vitara head/cam on my block, or does it result in a critical/interference condition? Can I just buy the OEM cam for my car and solve any such problem? I need to replace my head NOW and want to know if you would you do this? Michael J. |

I think it just bolts right on. You need to decide if it's a 1.3 or a 1.6 though, can't be both. It'll say on the block, either G13B or G16A. Doesn't really matter, they're either identical, or the 1.6 has slightly bigger valves, not 100% sure, but it won't make much difference either way. Ooops, keep reading. The 1.6 cam is different (dist drive) and some have the injectors in the head, and some in the intake. They are not interchangeable as far as I know. The valves are the same size. |

as long as the intake ports have a pear shape (for injectors) the casting for the engine head is identical. good to know if you're trying to get a replacement but no metros around. as said above camshaft is no good since it's for use with distributor |
