NEED HELP ON FRONT BRAKES; PICTURES INCLUDED

So today im doing the front and rear brakes, well I did the front driver side and everything thing went smoothly the part that slides out of the hub came out easy, well when I went to do the passenger side that part came out hard! I had to use a pulley puller to get it out, now im wondering if I need to replace this? It has ridges it the middle of the smooth part? I looked inside the hub and found the bearings all moved freely and looked good? But I do not know why it was so hard to get off? Do you guys think this is damaged or not? Or are these sometimes just hard to get off? Thanks. :shake :shake

THIS IS THE PART THAT WAS HARD TO GET OFF, YOU SEE HOW IT HAS THOSE RIDGES ON IT, I DID NOT NOTICE THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE, ARE THEY SUPPOSE TO BE THERE? tHANKS.

I LOOKED INSIDE THERE IN THE BEARINGS AND IT SEEMS TO LOOK GOOD, WHEN I PUT BACK TOGETHER SHOULD I GREASE IT UP?

the ridges are fine. just machining marks from when they made the part. wipe off all the scuz and lube it all up good. put it back together. happy motoring

If one side came off easy there might be something wrong with that side. They are pressed on and you are supposed to pull them off and reinstall with a axle puller attachment on a slide hammer according to the book. I've never had one come off easy.

Nobody here has had one of there sides come off easy? What should I check for? I think it is fine, I had to tug at it a little , but I got it off by hand? Does that mean I should replace the whole hub assembly? Thanks.

Maybe you were doing something else also but why did you pull the whole hub to do brakes?

I could not push the piston all the way back on the calilper, I think I need a new one? I have a 1991 geo metro, what calipers are interchangable? I saw a 91 90 93 at the scrap yard, will that work? Thanks.

I'd go ahead and do the bearings while you have it undone, if you ever drive in any bumpy roads or any gravel/off road then go ahead and do it.

Its only 16 or so more to do the bearings so go ahead and do it bore they start to go when you dont have time and cost you time and mpg from the dragging.
