I NEED HELP!! I have a 95 geo metro, 3cyl 5 speed
2 months ago I had the clutch and pressure plate replaced. Previous to that, I had NO ISSUES with my transmission.
However, shortly after I had the clutch and pressure plate replaced, my transmission strarted jumping out of 5th gear.
I figured that I must need to replaced the transmission, so I bought a used tranny from a freind on this site.
It worked fine for a week or so, then the 2nd transmission started doing the same thing!

Granted it was a used transmission but it worked fine for at least a week.

I have owned 5 geo's prior to this and never had this kind of problem before. I need this car. I commute via intersate. nearly 100 miles per day.

PLEASE HELP!!

Check your mounts and linkage. If the mounts are tired. The engine and trans package does not sit where it is supposed to be. The linkage is fixed. So it makes it harder for the linkage to go all the way into a gear. If you can put the car in the air on jack stands. Unhook the linkage where it goes into the trans. Then manually shift it into 5th and see if it still wants to hop out of gear. If so, then its an internal problem more than likely. If not, then more than likely its an external problem.

Good bye

There actually is an external adjustment for the linkage. There are 4 nuts that take a 10mm socket under the car at the shifter. This allows quite a bit of forward and back adjustment. When I made my 3 to 4 cylinder engine swap I had to adjust this adjustment to "center" the shifter throw. My car would not stay in 2nd, 4th and reverse until adjusted.
