I guess it all depends on the definition of "build". I've seen a lot of corners cut and still called a build. First is to check piston, rod, and main tolerances. May need over/undersized components if machining is required. My minimum parts list is rings, bearings, timing belt kit, valves, water pump, all gaskets & O-Rings, hoses, new head bolts, clutch kit, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, filters, oil & coolant. The kits, that I've used, came with new pistons, pins, and oil pump. Head & block will need to be surfaced and trued. Be advised that "kits" may have "middle of the road" to "lower quality" components. You'll need to analyze each kit part listed to see if it fits your desired end result. Welcome to the Party!

This is your best deal ever!!! This is what I bought for my rebuild and I have put on about 12000 miles so far and it has 190psi on all three cylinders. But i bought the .020 over kit! But this is a great deal! But throw away the head gasket and get a high performance one from mark on ebay. Herer is the link to the kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GEO-Metro-Pontiac-Firefly-1-0L-G10-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-/360344814730?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true |

Best rebuild ever is as follows: Replace crank, bearings, rod's, piston's, piston rings, with as good as stock or better. As for the head I suggest you buy a rebuilt head. Xfi for gas mileage, or maybe something custom for a bit more preformance. Your choice here. Might try for a rebuilt oil pump as well. With all this said and done, don't forget the gaskets. But don't buy an oil pan or head gasket from autozone. They are supposed to work, but they don't. Mine leaks oil like a sive. >.< |

Don't use an oil pan gasket. RTV silicone only. Doesn't leak. Good enough for the factory, good enough for me. |
