Recently my 99 1.0 metro stopped working 40 minutes down the highway. Thanks to the help of the folks here I discovered that the main culprit was the injector. According to the 1999 chevy manual, the injector should have a resistance of .5 to 1.5 ohms. Mine had (when it wasn't working (cause it was intermittent)) 10 ohms. We decided to order a replacement. Because I'm rather impatient, I also picked one up from a u-pull-it. It was out of a 95 motor. It was my understanding from a thread here that it should work ok, but there might be a slight performance difference. I put it in and for the most part the car is working well. I've been able to go from Longview to Portland (50+ miles) for school and from Longview to Ellensburg (225 miles and a mountain pass) with little problem. We also ordered a refurbished injector. I saw here that injectors4u (Motor Man fuel injector supply) seemed to be good AND they didn't ask for a core charge so we ordered from them. We ordered what we thought was an injector for the late 90's metros. We got the older design. Is there any significant difference between the two designs that my radish may be experiencing problems with? The car isn't 100% yet and I am wondering if its something I did while troubleshooting (the wet test didn't go well) or is it the older design of the u-pull-it injector...or the condition of that injector....Do I try the one from motor man and see if it runs better, or do I send it back cause its not the right one? Thank you. |
