Meh, I knew eventually the car would break...
made it almost 10000 miles since I bought the car without it breaking down, and even this seems like a very minor issue compared to what could happen...

Got the car back from the shop, they fixed the motor mounts, and made a new bolt on assembly instead of the little rubber bushings that held up the shifter before.
I wish I had a shop of my own to make up simple stuff myself!
I'll take pictures when I jack it up in an hour or two, but they tell me it should be allot more sturdy then the OEM bushing that broke (which is not sold anywhere in houston), and able to take it on and off.

Now the problem I am getting, is at idle it revs up high, then goes so low it almost dies, then revs up real high again. Drives 100% fine though, so took it home. It also idles high when it first starts up.

I think theres an idle control sensor or something that you can clean/replace for problems like this? About to do a bunch more research.

EDIT:
Only code I'm getting, is the same o2 sensor code the car has always had since I got it.

edit again:
also, on the drive home I noticed my brakes were worse then before the engine mount broke..... wonder if that has something to do with it....

So, on a hunch based off a 2 am fix in desmond's driveway on one of his metros a year or two back, I checked the hoses, remembering that desmond got almost this exact issue once, and I think it was a vacuum hose that ended up being his problem...
I noticed a hose that seems to be missing, and I think its a vacuum hose....
Heres a pic:

Anyone know what that is, or what it should hook up to, and could that be the cause of my problems?

That hose port is on the IAC. It would normally connect to a silencer and then the air cleaner housing.

This hose, being disconnected, will not cause the symptoms that you're describing.

However, Plug that hose port and see if your surge goes away. If the surging goes away, you could either eliminate the IAC entirely, or repair it like this.

http://geometroforum.com/topic/4804867/1/

If you decide to eliminate the IAC all throttle body vacuum ports will need to be plugged. And the idle may need to be raised because the car will want to stall when the headlights are turned on. It's the IAC that compensates for electrical load.

Sorry for all the multi posts!
Most of these are from my phone, and it keeps freezing on the edit page.

Solved the idle problem! It was indeed a hose I missed the first time I checked.
The one in the back of the... fuel injector...thingy... at the engine. (I imagine a number of people shutter when something in the engine bay is described as 'thingy', I apologize!)
Uhm, heres a picture with my finger touching it. Anyhow, that ended up having popped off, I'll bet when the motor mount broke it caught on something on the way down.

EDIT after seeing snowfish's post:
OH alright, so that was probably left unplugged by someone on purpose?
With the back hose put back on properly, and a fresh hose clamp, car seems to idle just fine... I'll probably take it for a drive in a minute and see if that fixed the brake issue as well (I think I remember desmond explaining to me something about how the brakes required some sort of vacuum as well, so I would guess that the problems were connected?)

edit2:
Little drive, brakes are back to normal as well. Car seems back to the same condition it was back before anything broke, only unless I'm crazy, I think the bolts where they bolted the shifter linkage are vibrating slightly as I drive.... I'm sure I can track down where and figure out a way to make it silent again, but since the car is a rattling menace as I drive anyhow, its not really an issue to me, just something to work on on a good day when I get back home.

Vac pressure for the brake booster was down. Remember when stimpys brakes wouldnt work? This was the problem. If they are still bad blow out the booster hoses, but sounds like youve got it. U gonna be back tonight? Game of thrones and drinking could be arranged?

Considering how cheap it was and mpg vs the buick it was a amazing purchase

Met up with HelterSkelter today while I was in houston,
he lent me a spare tire that no longer fit his car since he upgraded to 15 inchers.
Very cool guy, he complains there's no one else in the forum from houston.

Pizza delivery metro, not a bad idea at all!
Theres a lady in north little rock that does the same idea, and I wonder if its a good idea for some quick cash for a summer job, though probably not for me since I have my hands full between computers,my little one, and going crazy. (that last one takes up ALLOT of free time surprisingly...)

So, back to little rock tonight!

edit: a side note, as I first started driving around houston, the engine was idling a little low and shaky, but by the time I got to helter's house it was gone, and on the way back was no problems. Maybe just some resettling after being in the shop, having vacuum issues, and being jacked up this way and that so many times?

I have to at least make a quick stop over at my house and see my wife, its been more then a week on a 4 day trip, if I keep taking twice as long on trips like this she wont let me leave the house any more. I'm thinking this weekend, maybe monday/tues. What day works best for you?

I forgot to say here I made the trip home just fine!

From my message to helterskelter, who got worried when I didn't post here after saying I was making the trip back:
yeah, made it back fine, except for a (nice guy) cop in tibson who gave me a ticket because the tape over my light wasn't red enough for him. At least a dozen valid reasons to write my a ticket, and THAT is what he chooses...

I'm losing water and oil noticeably, and its not dripping or smoking. My radiator also smells of oil. I think its possible I have a small crack in my head gasket

I'm losing about... half a quart of oil every 250-500 miles, and about that often I open it up and put a good bit of water, not bone dry by any means, but for a car I never used to have to put any fluids in, it worries me. Plus, I'd like to have ONE mechanic see my car and NOT tell me I wont make it home because of some horrible thing.... (scoobs was convinced I had thrown a rod when he first saw my car, but that was 9000+ miles ago, and its stronger then ever!)

But till its running better, I best not make the drive to you scoobs, else I might show up on the back of a tow truck demanding labor I can't afford to pay for :(
Desmond as almost all the stuff needed to fix all of it, plus we know a few cheap machine shops around here to do some stuff....
