Went and took a look at Odens car last night. The clutch is bad and the head gasket is blown. Time for a rebuild

Got to Oden's house early today and found that he was still alseep. He's been asking for me to find time for his engine rebuild and clutch replacement for about a month now so I figured Id get a head start. I ended up pulling the head for him. Pics below:

Notice theres a loose engine to trans bolt and the other was missing. This might have allowed the extra flex and vibration that contributed to his clutch breaking.

Alternator belt was really bad.

I found that one of the head bolts is missing a washer, a 15mm, and was 6 threads too short compared to the others. The head was leaking right at this bolt.

On the subject of head bolts, I bought a set of reusable ones but need the washers. Does anyone have a link to some I can buy, or specs that I could take into a machine shop and ask for.

When Oden woke up we took the head to a shop. The owner is a huge metro fan. He told us that the cam and where the cam sits is too scratched to bother with a rebuild and after a bit of talking we decided our best bet was to go to pick n pull and pull another one to have the shop rebuild for us.

The guy was really nice and took us into the shop to explain why we should get a different head. Im hoping he will let us watch him rebuild it so we can learn how from a professional. This is the same guy who did Kenny's head a year ago.

Between me and Oden, we shall keep yall up to date on the metro happenings. C:

Oh poor metro, you have been sleeping all this time in my driveway... A project forever put off, but not forgotten! This week I bring you a present, a younger brother! Sadly he is on his death bed, but hopefully with a several organ transplant, he shall live on inside you!

After 9+ months of it sitting dead in my driveway in pieces, seeking an engine I could not afford, I found a listing on craigslist for a metro. I called the guy, and he informs me it didn't start, but that he thought the engine was in good condition.
A tow truck later, an identical white 92 metro (compared to the 91 metro this post is about) is sitting next to my darling sleeping beauty.

I hope to have an update sooner then 9 months from now on which one will be a parts car and which one will live on, but with a little help from the geo gods that be, hopefully I shall be back rolling in the high MPGs!

I've been neglecting to post these past months, but I've been lurking, reading the funny posts, watching how-to videos, and dreaming of the day when I got to drive my little speed bump around again. I've missed you guys!

Finally built Odens motor. Head still all done from the machine shop, but I rebuilt the lifters.

Odens motor has:
New Rod Bearings
New Main Bearings
New Head Gasket
New Rear Main Gasket
New Oil Pump
New Piston Rings
New Crank Seal
New Cam Seal
New Oring for the oil tube
New PCV
New Air Filter
New Spark Plugs
New O2 Sensor
New Intake Gasket
New Exhaust Gasket

I'll get the motor and new clutch installed tomorrow. Oden will need to get new tires and drive axles. I have a lot of interior pieces pieces to re install and clean up. Lots of progress

Paint didnt stick correctly for the "rebuild" so I'll have to redo it.

Lots of progress was made today. Everything is pretty much done except the motor install. Oden didnt want the oil pump I got locally and decided to order a cheaper one off rock auto so I'm waiting on that. Cant wait to reveal this thing. Its in a ton better shape than when we got it.
