I am finally off to surgery to get the foot fixed right. I have an early morning appointment tomorrow, and should be home the same day. The surgeon is putting in a couple screws to hold things together correctly, and I will have to do some time on crutches, but the idea is that things will heal up right finally, and no more endless pain.

Small world. My daughter just went through reconstructive surgery on her ankle on April 29th. She broke it last year in a fall and it didn't heal properly because of improper treatment. :shake The surgeon basically had to take it apart, rebreak the fracture, and then assemble it properly with screws and such. He also fused two bones to stabilize the ankle. She is looking at many months of recovery now that wouldn't have been necessary if her original injury had been properly treated. Her first doctor sounded like the medical version of Geo Jeff.... Thankfully, she got the equivalent of Turbogts22 this time around.... :thumb

Yep, same deal. It is hard to understand how stuff like this happens in with the medical technology that is available today. I am on my way out the door now t get the surgery, hopefully they get it right....

Thanks. It went smoothly, and I am back home now with the cast propped up on a pillow. I have a bunch of cable remotes, androids, and iPad by my side to keep me going for awhile...

It doesn't matter one bit what the field of endeavor is, half of the people practicing are below average, and the average doesn't give a shit. Car mechanic, Doctor, Lawyer, even Copier repairmen, about two thirds aren't worth a crap.

Good luck on your convalescence EV, sounds as if you're set up nicely.

I got the stitches out after two weeks, now it is just wrapped and in a removable immobilizer boot. I had to tape plastic bags over the cast for my showers those first two weeks, so I really appreciate having a removable set up now. The doc says to wear this boot for the next 6 weeks, and do not put weight on it yet.

If anybody out there ever finds themselves on crutches, I highly recommend buying a knee scooter. Life on crutches sucks, but it sucks less if you use a knee scooter instead of crutches.

Did you have a good foot doctor? In 2000 I fell off of a roof, fell 20 feet, landed on my feet, blew out both heel bones. Put me down for a year. Had to learn to walk again in a swiming pool. I know what this recovery shit is like.

That must have been a mess having both feet out of order. It sucks being down one foot, but at least I can get around on my knee scooter or my crutches. I think I got good foot doctor/surgeon, but I guess I won't know for sure for a couple months. When I first went to him and described my symptoms and nature of the wreck, he was able to put his finger right on the magic pain spot. He said he had seen the same injury for similar accidents.

Thanks for checking in. What I really miss is driving Metros. They are gathering dust at my home and shop, and I won't be able to drive them for quite awhile. This arrangement is not good for a metro junkie...
