My Metro just died in traffic. I simply pressed the horn and everything cut out and the engine died. I checked the fuses and they seemed fine.

So I have no ignition, no horn, no radio and no dash lights.

I need help with this ASAP!!!

Check your large 60 amp fuse and other fuses under the hood.

:hmm Using the horn in anger? Instant Karma. ;)

Probably just bad timing. :-/

If you have trouble locating fuses click on: http://geometroforum.com/single/?p=256778&t=2559772 (fuse boxes)

Yep, check/clean the battery posts and the terminal ends. May want to check/clean the neg ground to the body and the postive end at the fuse and starter.

My vote is battery terminal. Your living in Jamaica would definitly contribute to corrosion problems. Check out the grounds around the chassis too.

It was exactly this ^ which was the problem. Apparently the PO had run the wires for the horn on the top right corner of the radiator. So after a while the wire lodged between the radiator and chassis and chafed with the movement of the radiator... :smackface

So at when I hit the horn yesterday it shorted on the chassis and killed the 40 amp fuse in fuse box under the hood. So I had to insulate the wires, reroute it and re-contact the fuse. :banghead

Started right up and burned rubber immediatly. :banana Gonna change the fuse on Monday...

Thanks for the ever-present help AGAIN everyone :cheers

I dont think I can ever leave this site even if I decide to sell my Metro again...which is not likely. :D

Yep, that fuse is usually the main culprit when EVERYTHING dies on your car.

When this total blackout happens to me it is always the terminals. I have sometimes gotten out and immediately twisted them and returned to my seat. This usually worked.
